Invisalign Cost in Dubai:
What the Tier Buys and What the Quote Leaves Out

29 August 2026 · 4,318 words · 20 min read

The first thing Dubai sells you is a percentage. Sixty per cent off, summer offer. Fifty per cent off, down payment AED 5,000, regular price from AED 12,000. Across the Dubai clinic menus, price pages and booking flows we checked for this piece, the discount tends to arrive before the price does, and quite often instead of it. One clinic page carries the headline Starting Price 999 AED above body copy that puts its own clear aligner range at AED 9,999 to 15,000. Another advertises aligners at AED 2,999, reduced from AED 4,999, then further down the same page gives a real range of AED 6,000 to 18,000 and adds that lower prices may exclude retainers or refinements.

Then come the free things. Free consultation, free panoramic x-ray, free digital smile preview, sometimes a free whitening kit. The step being given away is the records step, the scan and the radiographs, and that is precisely the step that decides what you will be quoted. Underneath it sits the instalment furniture, a Tabby or Tamara button and four interest-free payments, which is how AED 18,000 arrives on screen looking like a phone contract.

What almost none of those pages says plainly is that the advertised figure is a package tier rather than a treatment. Align Technology, which makes Invisalign, sells its doctors a set of capped products. Express stops at seven aligners. Lite at fourteen. Moderate at twenty. Comprehensive is uncapped, with five years of additional aligners included. Your bite decides which of those you need, the scan decides your bite, and the dirham figure follows from there. The brand on the box is identical in every case.

This guide covers what each tier costs in Dubai in 2026, what the headline leaves out, the retainer bill that keeps running for decades, how often treatment needs refining, and how to check who is actually planning your teeth. Every AED figure here is an indicative 2026 market estimate compiled from public Dubai clinic menus, price pages and listing aggregators. None of it is a measured price, and the only real number is the one written on a quote after somebody has scanned your teeth.

The advertised number is a package tier

Align sells clear aligners the way software gets sold, in tiers with hard limits, and those limits are product facts rather than clinic policy. Align's own product portfolio caps Express at seven aligners for minor corrections, Lite at fourteen for Class I cases with no bite correction, Moderate at twenty for Class I and mild Class II, and leaves Comprehensive uncapped for Class I, II and III including extraction cases. Several Dubai clinic pages state the Moderate cap as twenty-six, worth knowing when you read a clinic comparison table.

The column nobody quotes is the one for additional aligner sets, and it explains more bill shock than anything else in the category. Comprehensive carries unlimited additional sets for five years. Moderate carries one set for two years, Lite one set for one year, Express one set for six months. So when a case needs a second or third round of trays, whether that is free depends entirely on which product was sold at the start. This is why the same clinic can quote AED 8,000 to one person and AED 25,000 to another, both of whom walked in asking about Invisalign, and why neither figure is wrong.

Two more products sit alongside these. Invisalign First is for growing children in mixed dentition, uncapped, with eighteen months of additional sets, and Invisalign Teen is the adolescent line, priced above the adult comprehensive package on most Dubai menus. For a family enquiry the honest answer is rarely a price, because a growing mouth is a different clinical problem and the right advice is sometimes to wait.

What each tier costs in Dubai in 2026

Set the tier caps next to the advertised bands and the market stops looking chaotic. Across the clinic blogs and listing aggregators we checked, prices cluster by product almost exactly as you would expect.

The whole-market envelope for Invisalign in Dubai in 2026 runs roughly AED 7,000 to 30,000, with most genuinely comprehensive adult cases landing around AED 15,000 to 25,000. One Dubai clinic publishes its own range as AED 8,500 to 20,000 and the wider market as AED 8,500 to 30,000, which is as candid as the category gets.

Invisalign is not the only aligner sold here, and the alternatives sit lower. On Dubai menus and aggregator listings, Angel Align runs roughly AED 5,000 to 9,000 with limited refinement rounds, eCligner AED 5,500 to 10,000 with refinements charged extra, ClearCorrect AED 6,000 to 12,000 with an unlimited plan that bundles them, SureSmile AED 7,000 to 14,000 and Spark AED 8,000 to 15,000. Several clinics also advertise unbranded clear aligners at AED 999, AED 1,500 or AED 2,999 without naming the system at all, and on every one of those pages the headline came with no aligner count, no case type and no retainer policy. If you are comparing quotes across the wider cosmetic dentistry shelf in Dubai, the question that separates them is how many trays, which tier, and what happens when the plan needs redoing.

What the headline price leaves out

Every item below turns up on Dubai menus as a separate line, or in the small print of a page warning that other clinics charge for it.

Records and the 3D scan are the entry ticket, at AED 500 to 2,000 where they are charged. The ClinCheck plan, the digital treatment design the whole case is built on, appears at AED 1,200 to 2,500 on pages that itemise it, and it is the one element where an orthodontist's judgement shows up as a line item. Replacement trays cost AED 200 to 800 each, which matters if you have ever wrapped one in a napkin at lunch. Preliminary dentistry sits outside the fee everywhere: decay, gum treatment, a scale and polish, and any extractions the plan calls for. UAE VAT at 5 per cent applies to cosmetic dental work and is sometimes quoted separately.

Two inclusions deserve more than a line each, because they are sold as admin and they are not. Interproximal reduction, known on clinic floors as stripping, is the deliberate filing of 0.2 to 0.5 millimetres between contact points to create space, and it is usually bundled into the package fee. Systematic review evidence finds no consistent sign of increased caries risk, periodontal deterioration or sensitivity when it is done within limits and polished afterwards. But a CBCT study of enamel thickness shows that exceeding 0.20 millimetres at a single site pushes a meaningful proportion of sites into moderate or high risk, especially where enamel is thinner than 0.7 millimetres. Enamel does not grow back, so this is a clinical decision with a permanent component. Attachments are the other one. They are small tooth-coloured composite bumps bonded to your teeth so the plastic has something to grip, and because composite is rougher than enamel they take up extrinsic pigment from coffee, tea and karak.

The digital plan on the screen is the part you are actually buying. Everything after it is plastic executing somebody's judgement.

The retainer bill nobody quotes

This is the cost the entire category leaves out, and it is not small. The Cochrane review of retention procedures, drawing on 47 randomised trials and 4,377 participants, puts it plainly: without retention teeth tend to return towards their original position, and that unfavourable change is a lifetime risk. The same review rated the evidence low to very low certainty on which retention approach works best, and noted there is no recognised duration for which retainers need to be worn. The British Orthodontic Society gives patients the practical version: almost everyone who has had orthodontic treatment needs retainers, and the longer you wear them, the longer your teeth stay straight. Its clinical guidance on retention accepts night-only wear of a clear retainer, and calls for long-term or indefinite retention wherever the lower incisors have been moved more than 2 mm.

Nightly, indefinitely, with a device that wears out. Clear retainers last one to three years. Several Dubai clinics state in writing that retainers are not included in the treatment fee, so ask before you pay a deposit, not after your last tray.

Relapse is a lifetime risk (Cochrane, 2023)

The twenty-year figures in that panel are our own arithmetic on published Dubai retainer prices and stated lifespans, not a quote anyone gave us. Clear retainers replaced every two years at around AED 700 come to roughly AED 7,000 over twenty years. A Vivera set every two to three years at AED 1,500 to 3,000 lands nearer AED 12,000 to 20,000, and higher again on the shorter cycle. A bonded wire is cheaper across that span, though a study of bonded retainer survival at ten to fifteen years logged at least one failure in 59.6 per cent of lower stainless steel wires, which is why a bonded retainer needs checking rather than trusting. A wire that has quietly debonded at one tooth is not a retainer. The AED 18,000 buys the movement. Keeping it is a standing cost, and it belongs in the budget conversation on day one.

Refinements, and the 22 hours a day nobody quotes either

The plastic only works while it is in your mouth. The protocol is twenty to twenty-two hours a day, out for eating and cleaning only, trays changed every seven to fourteen days. In a retrospective cohort of 2,644 aligner patients, where full compliance meant at least twenty-two hours of wear on at least 75 per cent of aligners plus consistent app check-in, 36.0 per cent were fully compliant, 38.3 per cent fair and 25.7 per cent poor. A clinic cannot tighten a tray at your next appointment the way it can tighten a wire, so a slack month shows up later as a plan that no longer fits the teeth, and that shows up as a refinement.

Refinements are the norm rather than the exception. A study of 500 patients starting Invisalign Full or Teen across two orthodontic practices found that only 6.0 per cent finished without a single refinement scan and the average was 2.5 refinement scans per patient. Average treatment length came in at 22.8 months, which was 5.1 months longer than the original estimate, and 17.2 per cent of patients were switched from aligners to fixed braces partway through. That cohort was treated in specialist orthodontic practices in the United States, which is the favourable end of the range.

There is a ceiling on what refining can fix. A retrospective study of 355 Invisalign patients found that most of the gain arrives with the first refinement, 64.5 per cent of the less severe cases and 78.5 per cent of the more severe ones, and that performing additional refinements beyond three did not produce better occlusal outcomes. A fourth round is a signal about the plan rather than a solution to it.

Where aligners are genuinely good, and where braces still win

The Dubai pages that rank for this keyword sell aligners as equal or superior to braces at everything. The evidence is more interesting than that. A 2025 systematic review pooling 21 randomised trials and 970 participants found no significant difference in ABO grading, Little Irregularity Index or PAR scores between clear aligners and fixed appliances on simple malocclusions treated without extractions, though overall evidence quality was low. The same review found plaque, gingival and bleeding indices significantly better with aligners, along with quality of life at six months, chairside time, pain and root resorption. A separate 2023 meta-analysis in the Korean Journal of Orthodontics put the risk of white spot lesions at ten times lower than with fixed appliances. For anyone who has watched a friend come out of braces with chalky marks on their front teeth, that is a real advantage.

Where fixed appliances still win is complexity. A systematic review of six trials and 283 patients with severe malocclusion concluded that fixed appliances achieve better buccolingual inclination and occlusal contacts in a shorter treatment time, that extrusion with aligners is difficult, and that in extraction cases molar anchorage was not fully achieved as planned, with maxillary anchorage loss of about a third of the extraction space and canines and incisors tipping rather than moving bodily. The first prospective study of aligner accuracy, published in 2009, found mean accuracy of tooth movement at 41 per cent, with extrusion weakest at 29.6 per cent and canine rotation falling away sharply above fifteen degrees. Materials and protocols have improved a great deal since. The shape of the limitation has not.

Translated into a consultation: crowding, spacing, mild relapse from teenage braces and pre-restorative alignment are cases aligners handle well. Deep bites, significant skeletal Class II or III discrepancies, extraction cases, badly rotated canines and teeth that need extruding are cases where fixed appliances still finish better and usually faster, and an orthodontist worth the fee will say so.

Metal braces sit lower again on Dubai menus at roughly AED 5,000 to 14,000, and lingual braces behind the teeth run anywhere from AED 12,000 to 45,000 depending which page you read, a spread wide enough to be worth quoting from three clinics.

The comparison Dubai gets wrong most often is the third column. Aligners move your own teeth into position. Veneers cover the front of them, and porcelain preparation removes enamel permanently, which is the whole argument in our guide to what veneers really cost in Dubai. Where the complaint is position, aligning is the conservative answer and veneers would be destructive. Where it is colour, shape, chipping or wear on teeth that already sit correctly, aligners do nothing and the veneers or bonding conversation is the right one. Sequencing matters when both are on the table, because aligning first means less enamel has to be removed to make a veneer look straight, which is often what turns a prepped-porcelain case into a minimal-prep one or into nothing at all. The same logic applies to colour, since aligners change position and never shade, so whitening belongs after the trays come off. If a Dubai clinic answers "my teeth are crooked" with a Hollywood smile quote before anyone has said the word orthodontics, that is a selling decision rather than a clinical one.

Black triangles, attachments, and the end of invisible

Here is a side effect the Dubai market almost never mentions. A 2025 retrospective study of 80 aligner patients found open gingival embrasures in 48.8 per cent of them, most commonly between the upper central incisors. These are the dark triangles at the gum line between straightened teeth, and the mechanism is anatomical rather than a mistake: crowded teeth overlap, uncrowding separates the roots, the gum papilla stretches to fill a space it was never filling before, and a shadow appears where the overlap used to be. The same study associated them with incisor proclination over ten degrees, at 71.4 per cent prevalence against 34.6 per cent, and with absent interproximal reduction and poor compliance.

That is the quiet argument against the marketing line about no stripping and no attachments. Interproximal reduction is one of the tools used to close the space that produces a black triangle, and attachments are how the plastic delivers anything more than a tip. A plan promising to skip both is promising a gentler treatment and, on a crowded case, a less predictable result. Elastics belong in the same paragraph. Where a bite needs correcting, small buttons are bonded to the teeth for the elastics to hook onto, which is the point at which the word invisible stops applying.

Who is actually treating you, and how to check in three minutes

This is the biggest quality variable in the Dubai market and the least-written part of it. Any DHA-registered dentist can legally prescribe clear aligners after completing a short manufacturer certification course, and at least one Dubai clinic states that on its own website. A DHA Specialist Dentist in Orthodontics has done something considerably longer, a recognised postgraduate qualification in orthodontics of at least three years plus post-certificate experience, with Consultant the senior grade above that. For context, the American Association of Orthodontists puts orthodontic residency at two to three years of accredited training after dental school.

Align's own product architecture encodes the distinction. Invisalign Go is sold specifically to general dentists, and Align describes it as moving teeth from second premolar to second premolar for mild-to-moderate cases and pre-restorative alignment, with trade sources adding a stage cap. The point is not that general dentists are bad at this. It is that the product itself is scoped, the scoping is invisible from the chair, and a case that needs molars moved is not a Go case. Provider badges do not settle it either. Align's Bronze through Diamond Plus tiers are awarded on annual case volume, roughly Silver at five to ten cases a year and Diamond at two hundred or more, so they describe experience rather than qualification, and one Dubai cost guide notes Diamond providers charging a 15 to 25 per cent premium for the badge.

Checking takes about three minutes. Ask the clinic for the treating clinician's full name and DHA licence number in writing before you pay anything, the person's licence and not the facility's. Then open the DHA Sheryan professional licence verification service, which takes a licence number or DHA Unique ID and returns the name, registered positions by category and specialty, active licences with facility and dates, and current status. The Dubai medical directory does the same thing searchable by name. Read the category field rather than the marketing, because General Dentist and Specialist Orthodontics are different entries, and if the status is anything other than Active, stop there. DHA directs enquiries about professionals licensed before 2019 to its general service centre, and a general dentist appearing on Sheryan is properly licensed. The position worth holding is that you should know which one you are seeing, and that the clinician should match the case.

A patient in a dental chair smiling during an examination at a Dubai clinic

The consultation is where the tier gets decided, which makes it the appointment worth having twice, at two different clinics.

Mail-order aligners deserve a plain word. The AAO's stated position is that evaluation and diagnosis including radiographs come before any orthodontic treatment, and its annual member survey found 77 per cent had seen new patients needing retreatment after mail-order orthodontics used without an in-person exam. Regional at-home impression brands market themselves in the UAE at a fraction of clinic prices. We found no DHA or MOHAP rule specifically naming at-home impression kits, and will not invent one. UAE telehealth standards do require that remote care comes from licensed facilities at the same standard of care as in-person treatment, and that it is avoided where physical examination is essential. An orthodontic diagnosis made without radiographs and without anyone looking in your mouth does not meet that bar.

If you are shortlisting, two Dubai practices in our directory sit squarely in this territory: Micris Dental Clinic in Umm Suqeim, whose service list runs across Invisalign, clear aligners, ceramic and lingual braces and retainers, and Dr Joy Dental Clinic in Dubai Marina, which offers both aligners and fixed orthodontics. Consult at more than one, and ask both for the aligner count.

Paying for it, and what insurance will not do

The common Dubai structure is a deposit of 20 to 40 per cent followed by 12 to 24 monthly payments through the clinic. Tabby and Tamara appear across dental price pages at four interest-free instalments, with Tabby typically capped around AED 15,000, and bank plans at 0 per cent over six to twelve months are widely offered. None of that changes the total. It changes how the total feels.

Insurance is simpler than the marketing suggests. Cosmetic orthodontics is excluded from all major UAE plans, and adult orthodontics from most standard ones. Daman covers medically necessary wire braces on its Gold and Platinum tiers at 50 per cent with pre-approval, subject to a lifetime orthodontic sub-limit that Dubai pages put at roughly AED 3,000 to 10,000. Treat every insurance claim on a clinic page as sales copy, and get the sub-limit in writing from your insurer rather than from reception.

Common questions

How much does Invisalign cost in Dubai in 2026?

Indicatively AED 7,000 to 30,000, with most full comprehensive cases landing around AED 15,000 to 25,000. The figure tracks the package tier and the number of aligners your case needs, not the brand.

Why do two Dubai clinics quote such different prices?

Usually because they are quoting different products. Express is capped at seven aligners, Lite at fourteen, Moderate at twenty, and Comprehensive is uncapped with five years of additional aligners. A quote without an aligner count attached is not really a quote.

What is not included in the price?

Commonly records and the 3D scan at AED 500 to 2,000, the ClinCheck plan at AED 1,200 to 2,500 where it is itemised, refinement rounds beyond the package at AED 1,000 to 5,000 each, replacement trays at AED 200 to 800, any preliminary dentistry or extractions, 5 per cent VAT, and very often retainers.

Are retainers included, and what do they cost?

Sometimes, and several Dubai clinics state plainly that they are not. Expect AED 1,500 to 3,000 for a Vivera set or AED 500 to 1,000 for a clear Essix retainer. Get the policy in writing before you pay a deposit.

How long do I have to wear retainers, and what does that cost?

Effectively for as long as you want the teeth to stay where they are. Cochrane describes relapse as a lifetime risk, and the British Orthodontic Society tells patients that the longer you wear retainers the longer your teeth stay straight, with night-only wear of a clear retainer clinically acceptable. On published Dubai prices and lifespans that is roughly AED 3,500 to 10,000 over twenty years for clear retainers, or AED 12,000 to 20,000 and up for Vivera sets, which is our own arithmetic rather than a quoted figure.

How long does treatment actually take?

The stated ranges are 3 to 6 months for Express, 6 to 12 for Lite, 9 to 18 for Moderate and 12 to 24 or more for Comprehensive. In a 500-patient study the measured average was 22.8 months, 5.1 months longer than the original estimate.

Will I need refinements?

Probably. In that same study only 6.0 per cent of patients finished without a single refinement scan and the average was 2.5. Whether refinements cost you extra depends on which tier was sold at the start.

Do aligners work as well as braces?

For simple cases treated without extractions, the pooled evidence across 21 trials found no significant difference in outcome scores, with aligners clearly better for gum health and white-spot risk. For extraction and complex cases, fixed appliances achieve better buccolingual inclination and occlusal contacts in less time.

Are the attachments visible?

Yes. They are tooth-coloured composite bumps bonded to the teeth so the trays can grip, they show in normal light, and they pick up stain from coffee, tea and karak. They come off at the end.

Should I get aligners or veneers?

They answer different complaints. Aligners move your own teeth and fix position. Veneers cover the front of the tooth and fix colour, shape and wear, with irreversible enamel removal for porcelain. Where the issue is position, aligning first is the conservative route and often makes a later veneer thinner or unnecessary.

Sources and methodology

The clinical and regulatory claims here rest on peer-reviewed research and primary sources, including the Cochrane review of retention, a 2025 meta-analysis of 21 randomised trials, a systematic review of complex and extraction cases, a 2,644-patient compliance cohort, a 500-patient study of refinement and conversion rates, the DHA Sheryan licensing services and Align Technology's published product caps. Every AED figure is an indicative 2026 market estimate compiled from public Dubai clinic menus, price pages and listing aggregators in a heavily promotional market, standardised into bands rather than presented as any one clinic's price, with promotional "from" figures treated as anchors. The twenty-year retention figures are Bellora's own arithmetic on published Dubai retainer prices and stated lifespans. This article is informational only and not individual medical advice. Confirm suitability, treatment plan and price in person with a DHA-licensed clinic, and ask for the treating clinician's licence number in writing. Reviewed 11 August 2026 by the Bellora Team.
